Who does what?

The actors involved in Belgium’s nuclear fuel cycle
In addition to SYNATOM, two other major actors are directly involved in Belgium’s nuclear fuel cycle:
1 – ELECTRABEL which operates the Belgian nuclear reactors and is responsible for manufacturing the fuel assemblies, their use in the reactors and their transfer to the deactivation pool.
2 – The National Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials (ONDRAF) and its subsidiary BELGOPROCESS which provide intermediate storage of waste from reprocessing contracts concluded before 1993. Ultimately, the National Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials will be responsible for the final storage of all spent fuel.
